begins with our “Parent Night Meeting” in August. Parents come to meet one another; teachers distribute Parent Handbooks and share plans for the year. Parents complete a “Let’s Get Acquainted” form for teacher’s better understanding of the daily home routines of each child. Teachers use this information to make important connections (for example, it is helpful to know when child speaks about “Rusty” if this is a pet dog -- or an uncle who lives in the home!) Teachers also use “Let’s Get Acquainted” information to plan times for parents to share their own family culture, traditions, and hobbies during the school year.
